WHY DID MOHAMED TEACH MEN TO BEAT WOMEN IN SOME CASES?
This article is not hate and is not meant to vilify a people group in any way, but rather is a sincere question followed by a statement speaking out against violence against women. Thank you for reading my opinion.
In the Koran, it speaks of men beating women in some cases. It is recorded in the Koran, in Sura 4:34:
"Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them."
Some have attempted to soften this Koranic command by saying that husbands should beat their wives lightly, not excessively. To me nothing can justify a husband beating his wife. In the western world violence against women is shunned as evil. In the western world most people who commit these offenses are ashamed of it, or at least should be ashamed of it, and it can be prosecuted by law. This ministry opposes violence to women.
